They will bo needed the coming spring on
tho frontiers nf this Statu and Washington
Territory, nnd for an expedition against tho
Snake Indians who hare h-i long been mer
cilessly engaged In robbing emigrants and
murdering our fellow citizens. I cannot
doubt that the citizens of Oregon, who
havu always promptly responded fo any de
mand for their military services, will In
ilko manner respond to this call, thereby
showing their loyally to the Government,
and aiding In chastising marauding bandit
of Iiul.niw which Infest our frontiers.
