A S plendid S howing .—By the exhibit of thu Clerk, published else where, it will be perceived that the finances of Jackson county are hi a healthy condition. There are nearly $1,000 less outstanding warrants than there were one year ago, and a like sum has been pud out in interest, making a reduction in our debt ol nearly $2,000. And this has been effect ed iu the face of a ruinous poor-house expense and a large amount of crimi nal business, Our County C'ominis- siouers are to bu congratulated upon the efficiency and economy of their management. M ade a G reat M istake .—We be lieve the citizens of Jackson county luts&ed a gulden opportunity when they failed to do anything toward opening a road to Beaver creek. The ptOjde of Siskiyou saw the point ami availed themselves of it, making a wagon road running to the mines. These uiunabar deposits are likely to prove of value and give employment to many men, the furnishing of sup plies to whom will be quite an object.
