Radicalism has ruled Louisiana since the war ended, and as a result that State can now boast of an indebtedness amount ing to $66,000,000! O’Connor, who committed an assault upon Queen Victoria lately, has been sentenced to receive twenty lashes and a year’s imprisonment. It is stated that there are in the Uni ted States 231 soldiers who lost both eyes, 118 who lost both legs, 11 who lost both feet, five who lost both hands, thirty-five who lost both arms, and sixteen who lost an arm and leg. At a leap year party in Atlanta, Ga., the young ladies showed their manliness by having the following mottoes put in conspicuous places: “We mean busi ness,” “Now is our chance,” “Waiting is tedious.” Dolly Varden, the fortunate young lady after whom the fashionable dress for next summer is named, was the charming daughter of a London locksmith, Gabriel Varden by name, and lived in the reign of George III. She afterward became Mrs. Joe NVillet. Wherever the Radicals have got a foot hold, they have laid a heavy hand upon the people. Thus, in Washington City they have raised the rate of taxation in that city since 1870, from $1.75 to $3.20 on the $100. This is the case in every place where the Radicalshave had power for any length of time. But still their cry is, “Retrenchment and low taxes.” I This wonderful vegetable restorative is the sheet-an chor of the feeble and debil itated. There are a fow remedies known to the Medical Profession which will remove the RHEUMATIC POISON from tho blood, but whose action is ae powertill in depressing the system of tho already en feebled Rheumatic patient, that their use has to be abandoned before specific effects are obtained, hence the want of success in treating this prevalent, and in consequence heretofore incurable diaeaso. Un like these medicines, already known, the UNK WEED REMEDY, though producing as powerful and as affective effects on the blood and system in removing the Rheumatic Poison, also possesses a strong TONIC and recuperating element which ad mits of its continued use even by the most deli cate and debilitated. Thus we have the combina tion for the first time of these TWO neceessary ele ments in ONE remedy, which accounts for its Su perior and Never-Failing curative effects in Rheumatism, Rheumatic Gout, and Rheu matic Pains of all Kinds. We are aware of the fact that, is generally nn easy matter to procure certificates attesting tbe et- fieacy of patent medicines from a certain class of those who use them. We have selected the fol lowing because the namen attached to them are those of men of the most careful and icrtipulom charac ter, and because the large class of thoir acquain tances in Oregon will not, for a moment, accuse or suspect them of any exaggeration iu the state ments they may make. This horse (and mare, “Joan of Are,” which died before 1 shipped) was selected in France in 1870, by one of the best judges of this stock in that country. Since the public have seen “White Prince” at our County Fair, he has grown and spread 80 his former friends hardly know him. While East the past winter, in conversation with intelligent horse-breeders, several of them in I formed me that they had stood aloof from the Pcrcheron or Norman ’ orses, thinking them too heavy for travel or oruinary use ; but after Jiaving seen the grade-colts and fillies come to maturity, and seen them in use, they are willing to breed to them : and wherever they have been introduced they have given universal satisfactien. I have been at great expense and risk in mak ing the above importations, and have no doubt that if the horse-breeders of this and adjoining counties patronize tbe above horses and take prop er care of the colts, we will show, in a few years, a class < f horses not inferior to any on the coast.
