Every voter, at least, should at
tend the piimaries. Every voter is
responsible to the extent of his bal
lot for the corruption in politics now
prevalent, and he who shirks the re
sponsibility of wielding his ballot
should not complain if the public
business is mal-administered and
scoundrels and imbeciles control the
public business ot the country.

Tho Times' Salt Lake correspond

of an intrigue under which the Mor
mons are arranging to leave Dtah
and by shrewd manipulation get con
trol of New Mexico and thus steal
into the Union under the bill passed
for its admission as a State. The
correspondence states that the Mor
mons have secretly bought up lm
mense tracts of land consisting of
old Spanish grants at a nominal
price. Several Mormon elders have
gone there and have been prosely
ting the Indians. If the scheme
succeeds it will turn New Mexico
over to Brigham Young, when the
long sought for kingdom of Mormon
will be firmly established under the
Constiution and in the Union.
