A letter hasjust been received by
George Millican, of Crook county, well
known In Lane county, telling of one
ol the largest forest tires known in
Eastern Oregon for years.
The fire started about ten days ago ou
Pine mountain, neur the Ico caves,
about 40 miles south ol Prlnevllle, in
Crook county. At the time the letter
was written it had extended to the
Paulina mouulains, covering a section
of couutry about 25x10 miles In extent
destroying a vast amount of pine
timber. The country burned over Is
uninhabited.
It is thought that the smoke that
