Many mining claim near Grant' Pas have closed down for tbe season on account of no water. Nearly all the miner report good results from tbe season's run. Portland, Or, June 11. A fire occurred to-day noon in a two story frame building on the corner of 18th and B streets, occu pied by a saloon and Fkokenstein'a drug store. The Board of Trade has se cured subscription to tbe amount of about $$00, but $1200 more will be required to build the road. It i essential that the work hould be done at onoe if it is expected to accomplish anythiug thi season. If the road waa built at onoe il would be October before the mill could be preparVd for work, aud supplied so a to work daring the win ter. Tb openiug of those mines would great ly benefit Eugene, from which all supplies and men would leave, and it is to be hoped that arrangements can be made for the building of tbe road at ouce. Lancaster Alliance. A Farmer Alliance Union has been or ganized at Laucaater, near Junction City, by F. M. Nigbswander lecturer of th order. Tbe number of members enrolled was twelve. Wednesday evening the city council concluded tho salo of the $20,000 of city bonds, the money for which will lie used for sewerage purposes. This offer was accepted and the contract drawn. The bonds will be engraved at once and delivered, when the city will have money to pro ceed with sewerage. Indictments. To th Ahtlum Isaao Condon, of North Fork, Siuslaw, was examined and found in- aane Thursday morning before Judge Soott, Prosecuting Attorney Condon, and Drs. Patterson and MoCoruack, medical exami ner. He wm taken to the asylum by his son on the local train. Mr. Condon la aware of his malady, and I perfectly willing to go to the asylum for treatment.
