A Wonderful Cave. About fifteen miles from the celebrated Modoo lava beds, and within two miles of the road lending from Adin, California, to Linkville, Oregon, is a subterranean cavern which ponsesses loiue re markiible cbaraeter ixtics. The opening is described as a alight deprestdon resembling a badger hole and just large enough to admit a mnn. A abort dis tance inside it opens into a number of large jinKSftges, which have been explored several miles with no indication of coming to the end. The atmosphere is found oppressively warm, aud no currents of air are Lund. The only indications of animal life discovered by explorers are the tracks of beasts in the mud, wine of which are as large as those of a California lion. One exploring party fonnd a smiill body of .water ai clear as cithIh) about half a mile inaide the eutrunce. Near this evidences of a number of camp fires were seen, showing that the place bad been visited by Indians. The roof varies in height and is thickly studJed with stalao titcs. Sovereign Grand Lodge, 1. 0. 0. F. '.' Los Angeles, Cal., is toon to be honored by the meeting of a number of very distiu gnixbed Odd Fellows there. On September 17th the Sovereign gTsnl lodge, I. 0. O. F will convene in that city, and probably be in session several dnys. This body will be composed of representatives from all parts' of the United Stutee, British Columbia and the world. The Odd Fellows and citizens generally of Los Angeles are muking very extensive ar rangements to accord to the representatives a unliable reception on their arrival there. At J the meeting of the last grand lodge oi ure gon the matter of the meeting of the Soveie ign gn.nd lodge at Los Angeles was con sidered and a cordial invitation extended tba members of that body to visit Portland aud other sections of the state.
