Hancock, McCllan, Rosencranz, McCWnand, Sirgel, Slix'uiii, Stoni'ioau, Palmer, Cone, Rokseaa, Franklin, Nelson, Thomas, Hooker. Steadman, Ord. t The following are some of the Con federate Generals who are leaders in the in the Republican party and holding high offices by Republican appoint ment LONUSTRF.ET, The general that Hancock whipped at Gettysburg, now minister to Turkey at a salary of (10,000 per annum, H08KDY, The guerilla and pirate chief who shot down Union soldiers and robbed their knapsacks, now charge-de-affairs in Chi na at a salary of $6,000 a year. KEY, Brigadier of the rebel army, once of Hayes' cabinet as a Fostmaster General with a salary of $8,000 a year, now U. S. District Judge. And the following is a list of other distinguished radical leaders and oflice holders, selected from tho rebel de partment of the Radical party, which we copy from the Constitution: 1. Brigadier General A. T. Aker man, Grant's Attorney-General of the United States, whose business it ' was to instruct Grant in constitutional . da tieiyand obligations, and to give written opinions on constitutional and law ques tions to all other departments of the government Col. Hughes, Radical U. S. District Judgo in Virginia. Col. Settle, Radical U. S. Judge in North Carolina, Gov. llolden, of North Carolina, who framed the ordinances of secession; now Radical postmaster at Raleigh, and Radical leader in North Carolina. Col. LuRk and Mr. Young; tho first a Radical U. S. Attorney for North Carolina, and the other a Radical U. S. Revenue Collector in North Carolina. James L Orr, the leader of the re bellion in South Carolina and signer of the secession ordinance;was Grant's Minister Plenipotentiary to Russia. (Note. Orr was a disunionist when a memW of Congress as long ago as 1850. Ho had' as much, or more, to do with bringing on the civil war as Jeff Davis.) Major Morphia, of Mississippi, of the Confederate calvary service and a fa mous scout; now Radical marshal of Mississippi. Col. Ex-Senator Footo of Louisiana, known when a Senator in Congress at Washington, 30 years ago, an "Hang man Foote," who subsequently encour aged secession, trampled and spit upon the Union flag, was a Senator in the Congress, from Mississippi, and who dealt in vituperative speeches against Northern Democrats for fighting for the Union; late Radical Director of the U. 8. Mint at New Orleans, and one of the recognized lights of the Radical party in Louisiana. He was regarded as a special favorito and pet of Hayes and his cabinet Sam M. Clark, a homo guard, Keo kuk, Iowa. During the war a non combatant The postoffice in this city was taken by ex-rebel General Poet- master General Key from a scared Union general, at Clark's solicitation and given to Clark, who never smell powder nor looked a rebel soldier ia th face, and whose merit in the eyea of the Radical leaders is that he U a Radical editor who wavs, in nearly every edi torial in the Gat City, the bloody shirt, and denounces Democrats who fought for the Union as rebel sympa thizers. Even Col. Trimble, w ho led a sabre charge where scores of the rebela were cut down, and many of his own men were killed, and who was himself shot through the face by a rell bullet, is denounced as a secesh sympathizer by the non -fighting successor to the sol dier ho put out of office. Efltct on the above factt. STATE JIEWS. Diphtheria has again broken out ii Corvallia. A. II. Hubbard, one of the very first settlers of Cole's Valley, died a few days ago at the age of 81 years. Tho O. It A N. Co. aro going to build permanent water work for their own use at the Dalles, similar to those at Celilo. Ninety thousand bushels of wheat have already been received in Roso- burg. The prices are so low that no sales have been made. John Shute has made the biggest storage of wheat at the Hillsboro ware house ever made there 4000 bushel raised on his farm this year. A little child belonging to some per sons who were moving into Jackson county, and were camped at Rosebnrg, was scalded to death with hot coffee last Monday. It has been given up that Calapooia will furnish more wheat for Oakland than all the surrounding country. It is estimated to have furnished near 65, 000 bushels. It has been decided necessary to Wave a. new survey of th Coquill and the report forwarded to Washington for approval before work can be commenc ed on that harbor. This will probably postpone the work till next summer. The steamer Harvest Queen wm hauled out for repairs at Celilo Wed nesday, having met with an accident that mado repairs necessary to her hull while going up the river Monday with a load. of railroad iron. Sho will be afloat in a few days. Cunyonville correspondent: J. R. Dodge, our "land king," baa bought th old Allen place in Green Valley, com prising 2,700 acres, consideration $8,000. Mr. D. proposes to stock it with 1500 head of sheep and then rent it to Mr. John Beckley, of Elkton.
