One of the leading fraternal lodges iu Corvallis is threatened with a big disturb ance between two factious of its members. in which anonymous letters, etc., figure largely. Out of eighteen applicants for certifi cates at the last quarterly examination, only four were successful. Two received second grade aud two third grade county certificates. The Salvation Army holds special meet ings next Monday and Tuesday evenings. Sectional Officer Willis, of Salem, will be present and take charge of the services. All are invited. Republican aud gold democratic ladies are requested to meet at the court house tonight at 7:30, for the purpose of organ izing a ladies auxiliary to the young men's republicau club. The initial steps in the organi zation of the Young Men's Re publican Club of Benton county were taken Saturday night, and the club has its part in the com ing campaign already well plan ned. It promises to be an im portant factor in furthering the in terests ot the republican party in this locality. The object of the organization is to enlist the active interest of young men in behalf of good gov- : f O to llieinbersllip. The officers elected Saturday night were, president, Sherman Wade, and secretary, O. L. Clark. Prof. S. Pratt was requested to act as treasurer.
