In this as In every other locality where it ii known, there are hundreds of persons who arc taking Joy's Vegetable Sarsaparills. To those w want to say one word. In nine cases out of every ten it is effecting specific cures. But word comet to ns occasionally of people who report that ii operates too freely upon the bowels. We want t call the attention of those to the fact that they are not following the printed instructions and are taking too much of it If it acts too freely re duce the dose, never taking any more at any tim than causes easy and perfect action. Keep thii injunction in mind, and take it regularly for while and do not indulge in too much greasy food. and we will have your testimonial within a fort night. If taken under these conditions it is an absolute cure for indigestion, dyspepsia, sic headaches, constipation, face eruptions and livei and kidney disorders. It may be asked how it can possibly cure so many aliments. But the rea son is clear. AU those troubles are the legitime result of improper liver and kidney action or im paired digestive organs. Its effects upon those functions are as astonishing to the medical fraternity as to the thousands who are daily taking it. Children Cry for TO HORTICULTURALISTS. Hood River, Or., May 24, 1890. Benton County Horticultural Society, E. R. Lake, Secretary, Corvallis, Or. The Hood- River Fruit Growers Club, representing the people of Hood river val ley, has completed arrangements for hold ing a grand basket picnic at Hood river June 5th, for the purpose of bringing to- gether those engaged in the same industry. Selieving that an extended acquaintance, and friendly gathering of those engaged in fruit growing will be mutually beneficial, and that the delightful ride up the Colum bia will give zest to such a meeting. The club extends a cordial invitationjto you and your friends to participate. Arrangements have been made with the Union Pacific for one and one-fifth fare certificate plan for round trip. Very truly yours, Hood River Fruit Growers' Club. Important Acquisition. The latest and most important acquisition to the agricul tural college from a horticultural stand point is the presentation, by seedsman E. J. Bowen, of San Francisco, of half pint sam ples of 285 varieties of garden and field seeds. This is a most generous and val uable gift especially as the donor expects to make it as complete as can be possible on this coast. The samples will be mounted in half pint inverted show bottles, properly labelled with scientific and common names, and placed on exhibition at the college aa soon as the bottles arrive from the east. This is another example of outside gener osity and enterprise as compared with that of our home firms. This is considered a good stroke of business policy if looked at from no other point of view. It isjan ex cellent medium for donor as well as a very useful part of the department equipment both for teaching and experimentation. There are a hundred other directions in which donations to the college equipment would be as gratefully received and fully as useful. Another Sale. G. A. Waggoner, who has for some time been watching develop ments in and about Baker City, yesterday proved his faith in its future prosperity by completing the putchase of an undivided one-half of eighty acres of land adjoining the town on the northeast.
