railroad commission bill that passed both
houses and then repassed over the governor's
veto, elected J. P. Fairiof Baker, Geov W.
Colyig, of Douglas,, aud Rob t' Clow, of P ilk,

tiary), to be the commissioners, and recom
mended that they appoint George Wa-

A new cabinet department has been
created by congress that of the "de
partment of agriculture." The presi
dent has apiHroved the bill creating this
office and has named Nonnan J. Col
man, of Missouri, as the one to act as
secretary of that office, and the 'senate
has confirmed him. This will make
the eighth member ; to constitute a
president's cabinet and President-elect hig marrow when cuing and fever runs Us
Harrison will have the honor of naming
the first one to hold this position for a
regular four years term. "Mr. Col
man will, no' doubt, go out of office on
Monday, March 4th, next.

response to a sentiment than to fill an

the naval branch of the military service
