P rayer M ee tin g . —A prayer meeting will be held at the Court House, on Saturday evening of this week. ---------------- —,--- ■» • < » ---------------------- - P etitio n . —Let the people of Eastern Ore gon get up petitions asking the State to pay Fifty Thousand Dollars a year interest on the bonds of the Portland, Dalles and Salt Lake Railroad, and everybody to sign them; this will encourage our mernbes to work for the measure and will be a great aid in secur ing the passage of such a law. The interests of our State demand the passage of this law, and we of Eastern Oregon must give it all the aid we possibly can. Let us push ahead this great and good work; on its success de pends, in a great measure, the future pros perity of Oregon, and especially of that por tion of the State lying east of the Cascades- C a l l e d . —Hon. J. C. Wilson called on us last Friday. Mr. Wilson looks, Speaks and acts like a good sehsible man. and we ven ture the opinion that he will make a good and efficient representative. In this connect tion we Would say that it is a duty the peo ple let their representatives know, by peti tion or otherwise, their want, aud then, we are satisfied, their représentatives will use their utmost endeavors to accomplish the re sult desired by their constituents. They are peacable, and no fears of an Indian outbreak are entertained by our citizens.
