lena and the year 1900 promises to he
most active in the city's history. Tbe
various factories and industrial estab
lishments are in a prosperous and ray
ing condition. The bank deposits abow
a large Increase and indicate a healtuy
financial condition among tha business
men. Tbe population ot toe city enows
a steady increase during the year and
from the beet estimates obtainable is
placed at about WOO. Many people from
tbe Eastern atalee hare settled in the
city during tn year, and all seem eatis
fled with their new homes.
The newcomers are among the better
class ot well-to-do people, and they will
be a factor iu building up 'he city in the
future.
The business handled by tbe railroads
during tbe paat year in the city bas in
creased over 50 per cent in both freight
and passenger departments.
Tbe year throughout baa been one ot
prosperity for tbe city, and the new year
