Base Ball On Saturday last two ruatch games of base ball were played Itt this city. The lirst, between the Homo let ies, of Corvaliis, and the Ath letics of Albany, was won by the for mer, the score beiug 33 to 19. j These are juvenile clubs, composed rjf boys ibetweeii the ages of la and 10' years. 7Tue second was a hotly contested game, between the Athletics, of Corvaliis, and the Quicksteps, of this city, result in the deteat of tile latter. Score, lol to &U.. In this contest several mem bers of the first tunes of both clubs were uuabie to engage, and therelore it was hardly a fair test of tho skill of cither. The Albany juvenile club gave their 'visitors a grand dinner at -o'clock, at Allphiu's Chop House, which was a splendid affair, and high ly enjoyed by the young cliaut pious. At 5 o'clock the Quicksteps gave their Corvaliis IrieuUs a feast at theame es tablishment. Clood feeling and pleas ure prevailed throughout the day. On next Saturday the Albany Juvenile club will go to Corvaliis an. la train try their powers; ; Another match game will be played, on Saturday, Junu bth, in this city, between, the Albany and Corvaliis clubs. - The Tayloe Family gave two performances-here this week, to fair lioux.'. "Mart. Taylor is well known to the people of Oregon as the champion embodiment of mirth and fun-mUing eccentricities. His style is at once original, unique and laughable. Mm. -Mart. Taylor, a beautiful young ac tress, is a recent addition to this troupe. Her recitations are chaste and elegant, nddelivered in a very happy style, while her ballads are full of sentiment nd feeling", and sung with a sweet, rich voice. Mr. Mills, the violinist, uses the bdw with a skillful hand, and executes some fine compositions. Mr. Taileure, the banjo player and negro de lineator, is master of his profession. His perfonaiauces upod the banjo are not to be excelled. Altogether the troupe gives chaste and agreeable en zertainments, well worth the price of admission. They all play in the lArks to-night. '-PRECAITIOXAKY MEJTSrtE. On Friday last O..A. Brown came up from &aleui and ordered all the Indians in this vicinity back upon the reservation. This measure' was deemed expedient in consequence of a report that small- .pox had broken out on the Siletz. Whether the rejwrt was true or not, the Indians should be kept on their ovra ground, and not allowed to hang around our villages during the hot weather. We believe no alarm need The felt, yet it was thought advisable to take this precaution, in view of the possibility of the truth of the rumor. Measures will doubtless soon be taken hrfour City Council to prevent any In dians from remaining in town during 4he summer. IiiBEUAL Offer. Mr. Boyes, .pro prietor of Boyes' Hotel, iialsey, offered to give a grand frefe dinner to the Albany- and Harrisburg Base Ball clubs, .should they decide to play a match fame at that place. Siioi:li Say So, The Jfrgil:r of last week winds up a fulsome and, be sJolrferintr notice of Capt. Humphrey with the sajje remark: " lie prediet his result in June as certain." The profundity of that sentence must start le the JiefjUtir'jt r-alers into new life and cause them to mw iu humble ac knowledgement of the erudition of the sage who uttered it. And then "1 Sxt." must feci so proud of the fact that Ids "result is certain in Juue!" Ji 'e think ourself it is certain to be the iuos; di astrous "result" with whiefc he ha ever been vi.-ited a result which wi.i wipe him out by a copious majority. VnxTRiLoQrisM.
