Katoa, of Monmouth, Polk county, was passing through town, and, Retting out of the rnon on First street, he stepped away for n far moments, and the team in some unaccountable manner became fright ened and stf.rteJ on a keen run; passing up to Locust ttreet, they turned up it, and ran on, tearing two or three shade trees up by the roots on the way, until they arrived nt Fifth street, when the waon struck the sidewalk and upset, and. coming uncoupled, the horse ran on with the fore wheels, leav ing tho wagon bed in tho road bottom side up. The horses, after running three or four blocks further, were caught near the j College and brought back, when it was found that nothing was damaged and no body hurt, and that this wasn't going to be much of an item after all.
