We were not present, but the united testimony of those present issurrieeot to enable us to pMnounce the en tertainment on that occasion the best in its line the Albanians have bad the privilege ofattending. The same Company will give another entertainment, at the same place on Monday evening next, when the domestic drama in two act, entitled " Milky White," followed hy an interlude, consisting of songs, etc.. all to conclude with that screaming Irish comedy entitled "Barney the Karon." It you want to latigh all over and all through and thoroughly enjoy yourself for one evening, don't rail to be there Monday night Grand Ball. Albany Fire Company No 1 will give a ball at Pacific Opera House on Sat-irday evening next. The boys have the reputation of getting up the most entertaining hops, and from the preparations made the coming ball will not be one whit behind former entertainments. Tickets are but $1 50, affording a flue opiortunity for pleasure at a small outlay of coin. It will be largely attended. ThkFourth at Harrisbcbg. The good citizens of Harrisburg propose to celebrate on the 4th of July next Saturday and are making grand preparations to do it in a manner creditable to themselves and the day. Our fellow towns man; Hon. Geo. K Helm, has been selected as Orator of the day, which insures those who attend an intellectual feast, ami O. P. Tomp. kins, as i rand Marshal, relieves ns 0 any tigering uncertainty with regard to the success of the proces sion. Hon. Enoch Hoult will be President, a position for which he is especially tinted, conducting the whole business with great dignity, and giving it the necessary tone. The Harrisburg and Junction City Brass Bands will furnish the music, thus filling a most interesting and entertaining programme for the cel ebration of our great national holi day. All are invited to attend, and those who cannot bring with them a basket of provisions will be liberally cared for by the citizens of Harrisburg, we can safely promise. Soda Springs. Harry God ley called on Tuesday Harry is at present landlord of the principal hotel in Kodavi le, which, with the aid of his estimable wife, he has titled up in good shape, and it row otters the best of entertainment for those who wish to visit the springs for health or pleasure. The waters of the fi"e soda spring, a few steps truni the door of the hole', are said to lie highly Iteneficial, and many who suffer from the various ills hu manity is heir to, visit odaville every Summer for the purpise of drinking the water from the spring. 'I here are a large number of people thereat this time, probably more than is usual at this time of the year, many of whom are camped. and intend making quite a stay As Sodaville is but eighteen miles southeast from this city, and a splendid road the whole distance, many of ourt citizens avail them selves of the opportunity they now have offered them of enjoying a few days at the spring, as they know they wi 1 be well cared for while there. Hypxotism. The new method or agent in alleviating pain and eradicating disease, known as hyp notism, has and is at present creat ing no little stir io the medical world. The application of this principle since its discovery has cer tainly been attended with the roost wonderful remits, and is, therefore, eliciting the attention of the first medical minds of the age. Dr. Boughton, of this city, has made the principle a study for some months, and in the cases under his care in which hypnotism has been tiied, the most wonderful results have been -ecared. Tlie most ex cruciating pains have been relieved in a few moments, and unlooked for cures effected, surprising not only the patient but the Doctor himself. The beauty of the application of the principle is that, while the most violent ain is removed almost at once, no drugs are administered ex ternally or internally We have great faith in it, and believe that in a large numlier of cases that come under the physicians eye, and baffle the power of drugs to relieve, it will not only relieve but cure. We call attention to an article from the pen of Dr. Boughton under the head of "Psycho-Therapeutics," in another column. Nearly out of Debt. The pastor of the M. E. Church of this city, informs us that the society is nearly out of debt, a le v more liberal subscriptions will place it on "praying grounds and pleading terms," financially at least. Let our generous citizens respond lib erally when called upon, and the entire debt cau be lifted easily. B. F. Dowell, Esq., has sent us a printed copy of his letter to Hons. Cardwell and Bybee, in relation to the Oregon Indian war claims, 1854, of W. C. Griswold, assignee of W. F. Wood, M. G. Kennedy and others, which he offers proof that said claims are new, fictitious and fraudulent. No change in market prices, and coin continues as scarce as ever. NEW TO-DAY. Among the test Port 'and will send one of her steam fire engines, which will be quite a novelty to many hereabouts. From present indica tions, next Saturday promises to be the biggest day yet in the history of Albany. Orator of the Day. Hon. F. V. Shoup, ot Portland, who is to deliver the oration in Hackleman's grove on the 4th, is one of the first orators on the Pacific coast, and the committee did well in securing his services. On last Sunday there was an immenw con course of jieople gathered on the grounds of the campmeeting held by the Methodists near Hubert' bridge, a short distance south of this city. The Game Saturday The College base bailers of Salem played our Rattlers in this city last Satur day. At the conclusion of the game the furrioeiu had scored 29 to our boys 13. Six "skunks," three on each side, 'were made. It was the best game ever played in Al bany, we believe. Our boys are in good heart and plucky, and have confidence in the future.
