Based on his observations so far.
T ru n k has issued the following
suggestions to w alnut growers:
i l l Go into the w alnut orchard
and pick from a large num ber of
trees scattered throughout the o r­
chard at least one h u n d red pounds
of w alnuts Be sure these are th o r­
oughly rep resen tativ e of the p ro ­
duction throughout the plantings.
• 2* Take these w alnuts to a d rier
w here careful records of the green
w eight should be made. The nuts
should then be w ashed and th o r­
oughly dried.
(3> Remove the n uts from the
drier, weigh them and cheek the
percentage of m oisture loss or
shrinkage.
(4* Shell the en tire lot and
weigh the resulting m eats to de-
