T h a t free «how for the seven cham pion tin can col­
lecting school« in th e county should c ertain ly stim u late
th e youngsters into action to w a rd b ringing in the g re a t-
ly.needed tin cans from every county household. T he
four-county th e a tre ow ners a re as usual evidencing a
real sp irit Of co-operation in this salvage drive th ro u g h
th e ir offer.

num ber of p re p a re d tin cans collected p er stu d e n t.
T hat m eans th a t each stu d e n t must also have th e c o ­
operation of the folks at home.
Tin cans contain m aterials essential to the p ro ­
duction of w ar m ateriel am i people th ro u g h o u t the
United S tates must m ake it th eir re g u la r duty to save
the cans and to p re p a re them rea d y for collection.
In th e present collection th e cans must be ta k e n
to the schools before A pril 20. H ow ever, people must
un d erstan d th a t this collection does not end th e ir ob­
ligation. It must be c a rrie d on until th e cans art no
longer retpiired.

eryone m ust ta k e th e tim e to save w aste p a p e r, se g re ­
g a te it and tie it up. Boy Scout tro o p s are ro ta tin g th e
responsibility fo r th e drive— this m onth it is th e A m e r­
ican Legion troop. T a k e th a t w aste p a p e r now a n d
reg u la rly to th e collection depot at th e T u a la tin \ alley
Coop w arehouse at 449 South Second. Those w ithout

m akes any g re a t deal of d iffe re n c e because people at
such an age a re f a r from being past th e ir period of use­
fulness, a look in O regon's W ho W ho fo r 1942-44 sh o w ­
ed th a t th e v e te ran m em ber of congress w ould not be
60 until N ovem ber of this year. T he p ictu re also seem ­
ed to be a very good likeness of him as he a p p e a re d
on his last visit here.
