Sigler Home SQUIRE CAVE TIED KNOT At the Isaac Butler D. L. C in 1871 One of the happiest functions of the Autumn season was the cele bration. Oct. it. of the fiftieth an imervsry of the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. A Ion to Sigler, and thr occasion was rendered the more enjoyable by reason of its coming as a complete surprise to the 'bri dal couple." They had been in vited to take dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Sigler, and the tirst intimation that they re evived that an 'elaborate revet' tion had been planned was when upon entering the door, ther were greeted with the strains of thr wedding march and saw the as semblcd relatives. The house was beautifully dec orated with the brilliance of au tuinuat foliage and vines, while gorgctnis golden dahlias and mar igolds lent appropriate tones to the color scheme. . It is worthy of note that th "bridegroom" and the host are brothers, while the "bride" and hostess are sisters. Besides these four there were present the fol lowing relatives: Mrs. S J. Iloo H-ngarner and Mrs. C. R. Bloyd sisters of Mrs. Sigler; her brother J. K. Butler and wife. It was re grvttcd that the illness of her hus band. Frank Barr, prevented Br sie, Mr. and Mrs. Sigler's only child, from being present, but she was well represented by two of her children, Gerald and Margar et, who were accorded the seats of honor by the side of their ur.-iiulparcnU at dinner. Xieees and iiephews present were Mr. and Mrs. Dale B. Sigler, Mr. and Mrs. E. II. Brandaw, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kellington, Mr. and Mrs. II. Ray Sigler, Mr. and Mrs Howard Frank and Miss (iussie Sigler. With their parents were the following grand nieces and nephews: Harold James Bran daw, Dorothy Clare Sigler, Helen and F.lgus Rav Frank, Allen and Marjone hvelyn Sigler; and Mrs. Allen Parent. Among the presents received was a splendid oil painting by James Mgler of the old home stead on the Isaac Butler donation land claim where fifty years ago Ann Elisabeth Butler was united in marriage to Alonso Sigler, the late Kiley tave, Esq., then Jos tice of the Peace, orhcistinir. A study of this painting by the guests brought back old memor ies, and many were the stories told of the old home, which is still standing. Mrs. Sigler related how she had gone with her new husband from the old home and set up housekeeping in a log house on the Geo. Sigler D. L. C southeast of Jlillsboro, w ith three legged stools for chairs and an array of second hand household equipment which was quite a con trnst to that which is "showered" upon the bride of today. As s commentary upon the present restless age, she also told how, in hfty years vf we.ddcd happiness, they had, except for temporary absences, occupied but five homes. The" log house served them for several years, after which they moved into the farm house on the Sigler homestead. Several years Liter they left the farm and moved to Hillsboro, occupying ttie Balura residence on Baseline St. for some time, moving from there to the DeWitt Smith proper ty on Main St., and later to their prent residence, 1186 Jackson Street. Among other presents received were four five-dollar irold pieces. n golden flower bow'l with frog, a lurry spoon, a serving tray and a pair of salt ind pepper shakers. After inspecting the presents a splendid dinner was served, with chicken and lixin s, the crown ing feature of which was a won (b rfiil Bride's cake, garnished with n wreath of write blossoms and alight with golden candles forming the figure 50, the work of Mrs. Frank Barr. Sharing honor with Hie Bride's cake was an eoliully good Gold f ake made by .Mrs. Jas. Sigler. The car in front of him stopped sud denly without warning and Jac obs swung his machine quickly to nils hitting the blocked car, wet t off the highway and was then ruck by another car turning the Jacob's machine on Its side.
