taindale, was struck by a rock in
the Luck qtinrrv, the other dav
and suffered terrible contusions
about the face and eyes. Dr. E.
II. Smith brot the young man to
the hospital and says that his
vision will be saved, altho it was
a mighty close call.
Judge Goodin reports that the
Gales Creek gravel pit and plant
will be ready for delivery to wag
ons after July 4. The output w ill
go on the Forest Grove-Gaston
road, hauling to go over the
Watts Bridge-Dilley road and the
grnvel deposited both ways from
Dilley. The county has a big
bar just above Rippling Waters,
on the stream just above what is
known as the "Dug Hill."
Auto drivers who usually take
that route say that the road
straight cast on from Beuverton
is not so very rough on the Point
er flat, and that time is made by
running into town that wav rath
er than around by the Terwilliger
Boulevard. The paving company
is still working on the road that
veers south around the hill and it
will he completed late in the sum
tner. .
Ferd Croner, of Scholls, was
up to Hillsboro Tuesday. II
says that he has never seen a bet
ter crop prospect, all around,
than now presents Itself to coun
ty farmers nnd fruit growers.
Grain down in his section is com
ing along fine, and the prune
prospects on the Chehalem Moun
tain is splendid. Mr. Groner and
other prune growers are putting
up a new prune drier as the pres
ent capacity will not begin to
take care of the crop. The new
drier will cost in the neighbor
hood of $3,000.
