that has aspirations. The vote

comfort and pride is a matter in
which Ilillsboro can take pride.
Now the good work will start and

something of which we shall all
be proud.

TAKES VACATION
Mr. and Mrs. John Vanderwal
returned Monday evening from a
visit to Eastern Oregon and Ida
ho points. They were at Nampa
Idaho, and visited with Fred
Schoniburg and family, and John
says he found the Washington
County people there, the Schom
burgs and the Hergerts, doing
finely. He1 says he would surely
be farming up there if he were
able. to work, as the crops look
fine, with heavy production. John
is enthusiastic about it and even
talks in his sleep over it. H
states that Henrv Fooren, for
merly of the Todd farm, Forest
drove, went into Nampa ou hi
train, and bought a farm. H
rents the place and goes to Bel
gium to visit relatives. The rent

of John Vanacker. John is at
his desk in the Ilcidel Building.

GAS RATIONED
Taken up thro the Ilillsboro
Club, so that industrial pursuits
would not suffer unduly, a gas ad
ministrator for the town has been
named. X. C. Jamison will have
his cards ready to issue permits
bv tomorrow morning. Those
wishing gas will have to get per
mits from Mr. Jamison at his of
fice Count v Agent's Office on
Second Street, and they will be
honored by the filling stations in
accordance, provided, of course,
there is gas on hand.

daughter.
Gladvs Bigsbv, the small
daughter of the Bigsbys, at the
Hamilton-Reagan mill, north of
town, fell on the railway track
the other day and sustained a ser
ious cut over the eye, which Ir
Smith closed with several stitches.

CONTAGIOUS DISEASES
The health laws of the State of
Oregon require the reporting of
the following contagious diseases
by physicians in charge of cases:
Chicked pox, diphtheria, ery
sipelas, german measles, influen
za (flu), measles, mumps, pneu
monia, scabies (itch), scarlet fe
ver, small pox, tuberculosis,
whooping cough.
It is not incumbent upon any
one to call a physician for the
sake of diagnosis or treatment of
these cases, under the law, but
the cases must be reported to the
county or municipal health officer
in any event. The responsible
party, if a physician is not called,
is the head of the household, in
which, the above diseases exist.
He is supposed to have the neces
sary intelligence to make n diag
nosis, if he assumes the responsi
bility of the care of the diseases
enumerated above, in the absence
of an attending physician.
Severe penalties are imposed
under the law for the violation of
the health laws relating to the
above diseases. It is with the be
lief that lack of information is
the cause of most violation of the
law that this bulletin is issued.
All reports made to the County
Health Officer, relative to the
above, will be used in tlm interest
of public halth.
