TROUT FRY PLANTED The Hillsboro Rod Si Gun Club Sunday distributed (0,000 cut throat trout in the tributaries of Fast Dairy. The youngsters ciiiu' through in good shape and arrived here on a regular cur at two o'clock Sunday morning. A like number of fry were sent on through to Forest Grove, and these were put in tributaries uf Gules Creek. Carter's two trucks took out the tanks from Hillsboro, and Fred J. Sewell, H.-il Taylor and Wm. Nelson went along to make the deposits in the streams. This deposit should help out the nshiug on Fast Dairy in a year or so, and another consignment is expected this vear if the Game Commis sion can possibly furnish them the hatcheries. The boys found the roads pretty slippery be tween here and East Dairy Sewell says the youngsters were very active and took to the water like old water dogs. The club Is trying to get a shipment for Mc Kay Creek. TO TOUR EAST Unless plans go awry, a Ilill.sbo ro resident and Orenco farmer are going to tour from here to Minnesota with their mach us, starting sometime the latter pirt of June. The two prospective travelers are John C. Beehcn, of Orenco, and Aug. Tews. If they travel together they will have company and this will be worth considerable. Tews wants to see his brother back in Minneso ta, and Bechen is of the same mind. The latter will have a day more of drive. If they maks the trip they expect to go via Spokane. A $6,000 PIPE ORGAN O. Phelps, proprietor of the Lib erty Theatre, has bought a six thousand dollar pipe organ, and it will be installed inside of sixty days or such n matter. The big musical instrument is one of the best in the state outside of Port land, and will be an inovotion in theatre circles. The organ is pronounced by experts to be a classy affair, and will be a splen did addition to the Liberty. Mr. Phelps will do his own installa tion, and expects to have it ready for operation sometime in Au gust. When Installed it will be a big drawing card for the Lib erty. The State is not asked to pay or guarantee the bonds. The bonds are secured by local lands and are paid by local districts. During .period of construction, and in preparing of his land for maximum production, the farmer is hard pressed for money, und the State of Oregon, by extend ing its credit to aid in develop ment of his lands, without pay ing out a cnut of taxpayers' money, makes it possible to de velop all of these millions of acres of good farm land. . The interest, which State is asked to guarantee, will be paid by districts and State of Oregon simply acts as bankt r end finan cial agent for districts. It is ex tending results of Rural Credit act to organizations of farmers It will mean millions of dollars spent for construction work and hundreds of ntillions added to assessed valuation of state. It will ajve our discharged sol liers and sailors first chance to secire the land offered for sale at a price fixed by the state. The,, other measure is the Roosevelt Highway. The whoio state is interested in being link ed with the other coast states by an all-year north and south high way which snow never Mocks. Phis would give three great north and south, which with the cross roads east and west, would open up the whole state for de velopment. Every citizen in the state should be interested in op ening up the whole state for this is not an Eastern, Western, or Southern Oregon proposition its a state-wide proposition u.-t is is the irrigation and drainage district measure.
