Mr. Movers was working in his field, and when dinner time arrived did not come in. The family ate dinner, thinking ho might have been late .is a result of his watch stopping. A son. William, who was home from Yamhill County, after finishing his meal, remark ed that he felt something might have happened, and said I e would go to the field and look i p his father. He did so and found j the father in a .sitting posturo. ! He probably hail been dead ovei nn hour. Coroner Limber made an in vestigation but held no inijiuv t. it being plain that heart failure was the cause of demise. Mr. Meyers was born ne.-r Bremen, Germany, November 2S. 1842, and came to America with his parents in 185f. settling tirt in Ohio. He enlisted in an Ohio regiment when the Civil War broke. Returning from the w.-r he was married to MUs I.oui e Riiekerman, at Cincinnati. Tin y lived in Ohio, Kentuekv and In diana, successively, and tin n came to Oregon in 1SS.", settlin;; near Laurel. At death he own; d 90 nercs of a fertile farm. His widow and the following eh l dren survive, four children" hav ing passed away: William Meyers, Frank Mov ers, Mrs. G. W. Whitinore, Lau rel; Mrs. Willis Challaeombe. Cosmopolis, Wash.; Louis Mov ers, Laurel; Jesse Meyers, But ton; .Mrs. J. L. Neubert. Cosmop olis, Wash., and Mrs. William Walker, of Laurel, Route 1. The funeral took place Sunday afternoon, at 2 o'clock, at life Laurel Baptist Church, and i i terment was in the cemetevy there. Mr. Meyers was a fine type of citizenship, and a kind and lov ing husband and father. local men were inducted into the final mysteries of the or der C. A. Hau'de, J. 11. Garrett and W. T. DulSois. F. II. Clark, of North Plains, was the fourth. As a finale, the eenturv of K. 1 wore seated to a crab dinner at midnight, ami there were "lob sters" for all. Arthur Knox, of Gaston, ate so much he almost missed his train to Spokane, and Hon. Ben 1 Cornelius and J. J. Meaeham. veterans of the order for many years, wore allowed to come out their wives withdraw ing all objections and the way they "fell to" the sea-fruit was something of a revelation. It was two o'eloek before the lights were out and taps sounded. C. E. Wells, of the Hillsboro Telephone Co.. and Attorney W. G. Hare forgot to Hooveriice, and the former, who is at the head of the Food Administration, won the championship at the table. Julius Christensen, of near Laurel, was in town Monday. Chas.
