A farewell party was given Mrs.
Elizabeth Regan, recently at the

silver dollars going the rounds,
as well as the occasional half
dollar. The counterfeit dollars
are of the vintage of 1897, and
are so nearly like the genuine
dollar that it is hard for anyone
not an expert to detect the spur
ious from the good. C. A. Pe
teison, of Buxton, had one of
the bad ones floated on him, and'
another chap exchanged a $10:
gold piece for ten of them, in
the Buxton section.

Robert Mulloy, formerly of Lau
rel, died from an attack of pneu
monia at his home at Freewater,
Ore., on Dec. 14, 1916. He was
horn in Iowa, March 23, 1856.
With his parents he came to
Oregon in 1871. In 1876 he was
married to Florence Cahill, of
this county. To them six chil
dren were born. Besides his
widow the following children
survive: Eli, of Lexington, Or.;
Mrs. Alice Wold, of St. Paul,
Minn.; Peter, of Seattle, Wash.;
Mrs. Bertha Wilks, of Monu
ment, Ore. Two brothers, A.
B. and E. C, of Washington
Co., survive.
Music lovers in Hillsboro were
treated to a real pleasure last
Thursday evening, at Liberty
Theatre. Carl Grissen was su
perb on the violin; Oswald Olson,
the basso, was at his best; and
Ar.thor VonJessen, pianist, af
