ANDREW W. BARBER
Andrew W. Barber, a highly re
gpected citizen of East Hillsboro,
difd at the family home on
Thursdav. Aug. 24. 1910. after
21 hours of illness from acute in
digestion. He was born at John
soiberk. N. J.. Sept 8. 1843
a 1 later moved to Dane Co
Wis. He was married to Miss
Mary DeJane in 1863, in Wiscon
sin. He was an enlisted volun
teer in the Civil War, and was
member of C-o. E. Twenty-third
Wisconsin Infantry. He and hi
familv came to Oregon in 1891
and settled at Hillsboro. He was
a member of Gen. Ransom Post,
and held the esteem of a large
circle of friends all over the
county.
His widow and the following
children survive: A. G. Barber
Laurel; Fred Barber, Cornelius
B. A. Barber. Hillsboro, and
Mrs. Kate Hembree, of Carlton
UNION STOCK YARDS
The weeks market opened wit
quite a fair si '.ed number of cat
tie. over 1200 head. Quality
while rothing fancy was quite
fair. The best steers sold at
and cows fairly well. Taken as
a v. hole some strength was de
vtl oped, especially in the cow
section. All other divisions
were steady.
The hog receipts were dissap
p-ii'iting as tar as numbers went
Prices showed some' strength at

closed steady to strong.
Nearly 3700 head were
reived Mon'iav on a steady ma'
ket. Top lambs are still quoted
at 8 25 and other grades in pro
portion. Market closed steady.
