The best previous record tor this run was made last May. when a motor car did the dis tance in twenty hours and thir tv minutes. Barber, a highly re gpected citizen of East Hillsboro, difd at the family home on Thursdav. Aug. 24. 1910. after 21 hours of illness from acute in digestion. He was born at John soiberk. N. J.. Sept 8. 1843 a 1 later moved to Dane Co Wis. He was married to Miss Mary DeJane in 1863, in Wiscon sin. He was an enlisted volun teer in the Civil War, and was member of C-o. E. Twenty-third Wisconsin Infantry. He and hi familv came to Oregon in 1891 and settled at Hillsboro. He was a member of Gen. Ransom Post, and held the esteem of a large circle of friends all over the county. His widow and the following children survive: A. G. Barber Laurel; Fred Barber, Cornelius B. A. Barber.
