Jan. 2D, at S p. m. Anton Spreitzer. who was in the laundry business here in the nineties, writes for another year of the Argus, to which he has been a subscriber for 21 years. Mike Samink. aged 66 years. and for several years working tor the Oregon Nursery, was ad judged insane Saturday, and sent to Salem. He was born in Germany, and has become un balanced as a result of too much reading of war news. He has no family, but says he thinks his parents are yet alive, residing in the old country. Wilfred E. Farrell has sued Gav l)mbard. of Portland, for $,250 for the loss of an eye. Farrell complains that he was in an elevator in the Lumbermen's Bank building, and that the ma chine stopped suddenly causing bim the loss of an eye. When the elevator abruptly came to a standstill a pencil in the pocket of a passenger punctured Far rell's eye. causing him to lose the vision. Mr. Lombard owns property on Main street, in this city.
