It was the cry that earned voters alon: in ISiV.: in and liXW-but it no longer has Jthe majric no er to frighten the jreneral ballot. It is the cry that defeated Mr. Bryan three times, but lost out in the last campaijro. Constitu tions must change as people change, and the people are the arbiters of organic law. Or ganic law is sacred just so lonn as a majority of people hold it 3 icred. and no longer. Portland manufacturers have at last started a campaign for in a 1. a 1 .1 i resunp me puoiic in tne use of Orepon manufactured prvvluct wherever possible. Washing tin state lonjr ago started to educate its people alonjr these lines, and they found that it paid. The more Oretron manufactures the more men are employed, and the greater is the home market tor Oregon farm products. This is a case of political economy that should appeal to every buy er. s- The disaster at the mouth of the Columbia River is not more than might happen any harbor bar in any country. The Colum bia's mouth has been signally free from fatalities, considering all things, while Puget Sound has been a boneyard for vessels these many years. Washington County has been shipping out livestock by the ad the past few months' and prn Oregon is getting the llrnments. And yet, the supply of milk increases right along ih old Washington County. H. AESCMBACHER H. Aeschhacher, of Hillslxiro, died the first of the week, and the funeral was conducted from the Donelson Undertaking par lors, yesterday, by the members of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints, deceased being a member of that faith. The services were conducted by Conference President K. J. Solo mon, the singing being by a mixed quartet, consisting of El der H. A. Benson, Pres. M. J. Ballard, Miss Mary Menrienhali and Mae Carlyle. Prayer was otfered by Elder Wm. Dopp, fol lowed by the song, "0, My Father," by the quartet. The speaker was Melvin J. Ballard, president ot the Northwestern Mission. The benediction was pronounced by II. L. Jepperson and thegiave was dedicated by Elder Solomon. Interment was in the I. 0. 0. F. cemetery, pur chased in part by members of the church who attended from Pirtland. President Ballard dwelt upon "Pre-existence where we were before we came here, and what our mission is here on Earth, what benefits we shallderive for having been here, etc; also that God had sjiokfn from the Heavens and again dele gated his powers and authority to men, and urged all men to think. Elders Dopp and Jepperson .came to Hillshoro some days ago and assisted in caring for de ceased on his last sick bed. and were joined later by the remain der of the party, who are labor ing in Portland and vicinity, without remuneration so far as this world is concerned. They assisted in paying for the ceme tery lot and the funeral expenses. Contributed. Mr. Aeschbacher leaves a wid ow and one son: He was a native of Germany. R. E.
