Council Will Take it up at the
; June Meeting
I'ROMISI-S A REtiULAR DAY SERVICE
Cil) Inllifis Against Noisy Fourth in
Business District
The city council met last nitfht
and listened to K. W. Haines and
his protosition to strinR wires to
this city and install an electric
lijrht and power service. Mr.
! Haines said he was in no hurry
, to force t lie matter, and stated
i he was perfectly willing that the
'council should take all the time
,it wanted before granting the
I franchise. The matter will
! therefore be taken up by the
! council at its June meeting. Mr.
Haines said he would install a
day service for lights and power
in the city if the franchise were
granted, no matter what the pat
ronage might be. He intends to
run his wires to the brickyard
hevond Oak Park, and says ne
has two large dynamos, in ease
one should go to the bad.
Air. Lytic, interested in the
local power plant, said he would
just as soon the council would
act that same evening, one way
or the other, so he would know
where he was at. The matter,
however, was laid over.
The council expressed itself as
to a sane Fourth of July espec
ially in the business district, and
asked the city attorney to see if
an ordinance covered this section
of this city, and if not to pre
pare one.
It was ordered that $G00 be
transferred from the general
fund to the water and light fund
that some outstanding warrants
under that head might be paid
oil".
