There are several reasons why
you should make the Den of Sweets
your head quarters, especially dur-
ng tbe carnival, tirst, because you
will receive prompt and courtious
attention; second, because their can
dies have not become stale and
shop-worn, bef lire leaving the fac

every day ; third, because you pay
oo more for the pure and whole
some candies you get here, than
you do for the factory-made article,
etc.

THE ELECTRIC LINE
WILL S00NBK KEADY
Suh-Station has Been Getting
Portland Current This Week
TBE MEN AKE PUTTING IS BONDS
.N'fw brpot Building Will Be Errclrd
So a
A force of five men are now patting
in the bonds on tbe rails of tbe
electric line. They are now about
' miles east of town, and are
averaging 80 bonds a day. The
poles are all erect 1 from Garden
Home to Hillsboro, but the over
bead wiring has not been finished.
This is going on rapidly, however.
The new sub-station at this place is
about ready for business. The ma
chinery is being adjusted, and a
current has been received from
Portland lor several days past,
which is used to smooth the ma
chinery, and get it in working or
der. Power will be transmitted
over an aluminum cable, which
will have a carrying capacity of
3,1500 volte. Two carloads of build
ing material have been received
here this week, and unloadid io
front of tbe Mrs A. C. Brown prop
erty on Washington street, between
First and Second. It is understood
that the site for the new depot has
been agreed upon, and that it will
not be very far from the place
where the lumber waa unloaded.
Itis also rumored that work will
begin on the new etructure within
a few days. It is thought by tbe
Electric people that the line will
he finished and ready for traffic by
September 30.
