An Indian woman and ber son
were arretted Tueeday night, by
Marshal Atkinson, on complaint of
Jesse Mays, who found the Indian
woman in his reeidence, when he
returned home at about 12 o'clock.
The woman was standing in the
hallway, and when Mr. Mays ca
tered, ehe ran upstairs and attempt
ed to hide in the bathroom. Mr.
Mays and Mr. Wright, a lodger.
brought her out and turned her
over to the marshal. On the street
she was joined by a boy, supposed
to be her eon, who was also arrest
ed, as an accomplice. They were
taken to the county jail, but as
there was no evidence against
them, they were today released. It
was supposed that tbey were look
ing for rooms, but they had en
gaged rooms at the Tualatin Hotel,
on tne night of the arrest, which
they left at 11 o'clock, without ex

bead work. A suspicious circum

scar above the left eye, and a wart
on the left eyelid. The county
stood the expense of burial, though
there was some money comma to
him from the mill company. Lam
bert is supposed to have come from
Michigan. Coroner Brown did not
deem it necessary to hold an in
quest. '

the city is thinking of making ex
