Wm. Schulmerich returned home
from a lecturing trip up the Valley
Sunday night, and was in Hillsbo
ro Monday. Asked for his opinion
of dairying and farming up the
Valley, Mr. ncbulmench said:
"Washington county is way ahead
of other portions, of the Willamette
Valley. In many places they are
still raisins "cheat, wheat and oats.
and land is selling at from $20 to
$30 per acre. There are many old
tumbledown houses and barns, that
give the country a bad appearance
to strangers coming to the country.
I want to say that Washington
county bs more fine farm houses
and barns than any oounty in Ore
gon. And the cows did it all."
