A warrant was issued yesterday on
complaint made by Officer Haw-
ey, of tbe Portland Juvenile Court,
charging Andrew lloereth, of Gar
den Home, of illicit relations with
bis fifteen year old daughter, the
first offense alleged to have been
committed when the girl was about
3 years old. Hoereth's wife died
some years ago and he wedded the
second time. The second wife left
him some time ago, and the girl
alleges that ber father whipped ber
few weeks back, and she followed
ber stepmother to Portland. Later
she passed into the bands of the
Juvenile Court. Officer Hawley
brought the girl to Hillsboro yes
terday, and she told her story to
Deputy District Attorney Wall,
and the warrant followed. Today
was Hoereth's market day in Port
end, and tbe warrant was sent
there for service. If tbe charge is
sustained in court it will go hard
with tbe parent.

The case of Chas. II. Dodd, of
Portland, versus J. H. and Agnes
Wirtz, suit for an alleged balance
of $30 due on a rental contract for
a house in Portland, was tried be
fore a jury and Judge Claude J.
Greear, here, today. Mra. Wirtz
alleged she had paid all that was
due, using the house but a part of
a month, and for which Dodd de
mands a full month's pay. A jury,
consisting of Yvulis Ireland, F. C
Pauli, J. H. Humphreys, C. E
Deichman, O. G. Wilkes and J. C.
Kuratli, heard the case. H. T
Bagley was attorney for Dodd and
J. N. Hoffman waB attending the
defendants' case. The jury is out
at press time.

and Josh will soon be ready for

The little two year old child of
Mr. and ih. w. A. Thorn pBon, of
Widnngton Street, Monday ate a
part of a corrosive sublimate tablet,
probably retting but a taste. Dr
Lioklater went down, accompanied
by Dr. A. B. Bailey and gave tbe
child an emetic. The little one
contended she had swallowed the
entire tablet, but the physician
thinks probably nearly all of it
was spit out. Antidotes were
given and the child will get along
all right.
