Decoration Day exercises begun
this morning at 9:30, when, bead
ed by the band, the veterans, school
children, and Relief Corps, march
ed to the cemetery where tbe two or
ganizations went through the
ritualistic ceremonies and spread
llowers upon the graves of the un-
forgotten dead of the great civil
war. The dead of the Navy were
honored by casting of flowers in
the stream below the burial ground.
After dinner the exercises were held
in the Crescent Theatre. Wm, G.
Hare delivered the memorial ora
tion, and he handled hie subject in
his usual splendid manner. Tbe
tbf atre was packed to the utmost,
and tbe exercises and reciaticne
were all fine.
Harvey Miller delivered an ad
dress which was well received, and
several recitations ended the day.

J. Grant Pellttte, aged forty fonr
years, die I at his home on Jorth
Pluif.B, today, at 1:00 o'clock, the
result of a paralytic stroke. His
wife survives him. Mr. Pcllette
was born at Galena, 111., May 27,
18(13. He was wedded to Miss L
J. Derse in 18S7, and moved to the
coast in 1SV-), settling at Newberg
In 1S9I5 he moved to this county,
purchasing a place several miles
northeast of this city. Mr. Pelle'.te

good article of ball, and -will make
good if they spend a little time in
