Several apeecbes were made on the subject and it was tinally voted to raise the present 1 100 lirense fee per annum to 500, thus raising tbe city revenue from this source 1300 each cslendaryear. The council practically voted to not grant another license until the population was such larger, basing one si loon for every five hundred oplf, or fraction thereof. LIFE SKETCH James Robb, who died near Center ville, March 14, 190G, waa bora at W aiilkmill,Aberdeenjhire,Scotland, n lH3lj and in his young manhood joined tbs Presbyterian Church, at wbitehill, retaining his member ship until be lett his native land. He was married to Helen Chalmers 18C4, and came to Oregon in 1880. He purchased a farm from s father in-law and has made his home there ever since. His neigh borly disposition, jovial manner ml cordial greeting gained his many mends and his care to not give carelesa onense made him n- enemies. His religious conviction were very strong, although deafness kept him from church attendance for some years. For 26 years be had been a member of the Tualatin Plaios Pres. Church. The wife and two children have passed away. eaving three children to mourn his loss William, Jsmes and Miss Anna.
