Potter, in the land fraud trial now before Judge anger, and goes to Purllsnd in the morning to commence his labors Mr. Huston states that he is in clined to believe that Judge Ben nett, counsel for Senator Mitchell, will win his argument in the plea in abatement, as there are several of the grand jurors who wbr were not on the tax roll. One of them Jos. Kssner, from Mountaindale, is said to not be on the tax roll. District Attorney Heney can call another grand jury and htve new indictments md-, however. An investigation of the tax roll shows that Jos. Kssner was on last year's tax roll, anil that he paid taxes on land owned and and deeded lo his mother. On this year's roll, how ever, the property is asaessed to Keller's mother, as well as the personal property belongs in the main, to Joseph Ej.-nrr. The county board has just re ceivd a road roller, of solid iron, practically, weighing seven tons The machine cost five cents per pound at tbe factory, making the cost 700, with freight added. The machine is eight feet in width and it will lake six horses to oper ate il. It will be used on road- after they are graded, and on rock roads after the crushed rock ba been put in place. At tbe depot tbe other day when it was unlead ed, some asked if it were a "steam roller." Ed. Moore proceded to gel waggish and said, "Ye, horse team roller." The "mssheen" will be used in its initial work on the road between this city and Forest Grove.
