Godroan has been busily engaged during the week preparing notices of election fur distribution, by the sheriff, to tbe judges and clerks of election. The notices state that the election will be held Tuesday, November 8, 1004, and polls will be open from 8 o'clock a m to 7 p. m. In addi tion to presidential electors, voters will be given an opportunity to vote for or against saloons. Peti tions filed call for a vote in the en tire county, and a special vote in Dairy and North Forest Grove pre cincts. 8hould the vote for the county be tor saloons and against io either of the two named pre cincts, the sale of liquor in those precincts will be prohibited, or. if the vote in the separate precincts be for and in the connty against, the sale of liquor in those precincts win again be prohibited. Upon this basis, before liquor can be sold in North Forest Grove, where the liquor fight has waxed warm for years, anti-prohibitionists will be required to carry both precinct and county. District Attorney Hairiaon Allen has asked to have tbe ease against Michael Piertier, of St. Helens, set for trial and Judge McBride fixed next Saturday at 1 :00 p. m. as tbe lime. Piertier is the scow-dweller ho abducted 15vtar old Marr Robinson and was captured at Bea verton. Since his return to St Helens and snhsequent incarcera tion in the Multnomah county jail, an arrangement was entered into whereby he was to marry the girl. He was released en bail and went to Vancouver where the cerenvnt was to be performed, but beine mis taken in the date and not n;e-tine the girl, in his disappointment at tempted suicide.
