Such an insane sympa thy always comes front a mind dis eased, which invariably has the pity ot those who undorlai d the sanctity of the life that has not for feited the right to li"e. The officers of the law evidently think tat they have somethii g of a ca-e against Rev. Kennedy, or he would not have been arrested The two ladies of the household which was robbed are. pi sitive in their statements that Mr. Kennedy is the man. On the other hand. Mr. Kennedy says he will estab lish an alibi, and there the matter rests. It is the duty and province of newspapers to give the news and proceedings of such cases, and it is idle to say that this paper or that paper i prejudiced As a rule, newspapers publish the truth as near as they can get at it. News paper men have their id. as of guilt or innocence, just as do o her peo ple, because thev are human. But, as a matter of fact, newspaper: generally try to get as r.ear in touch with proceedings of this kind, aa possible under the circum stances, without feeling that they are partisans, either for the defend ant, or the Btate.
