Huli-wr'ptlmn One Dollar U Months, 60 cue, Three Opposed to Guld Mono-metn His lieres la the KiiueUtli Hear Money means Debased and Profitless American I'rud Consequent loss is our Creditors Has no use for Marcus Brvan than reason of tilde of the ;tvrs ;. mst Bryan, and you will ohsfrve that he i assaulted in the .suue w-ni-wt in which the Try press tt sitilteil first W.i.-ihinjit.ni, snd ho ar Jefferson; you wiii note th.i! she spirit of attack is purely commer eil. , You will see that tiie pa pers winch txiay fight Mr, Bryan nn every issue, would he, from their owu admissions, perfectly sat isfied under a military government or under a monarchy. It is the sentiment that wants all the power in the president and none in the congress. !t is the sentiment which sees danger iu the rule of common people; it is the sentiment which believes in the rule of the fe as against the rule of the whole people. Withia four years inuca has been done to show peo ple that Mr. McKiuley is not the president. The Porto Rico matter disclosed the fact that McKinley was and is a mere figure-head; the Philippine question has shown us that Mr. McKinley completely changed front. Some one has been the dictator. Some one has forced us to the anamoly of a republic with monarchical powers. For this reason there are many labor ing for the election of Bryan Thousands who voted against him four years ago are now working earnestly for bis election. These men are of the best brains of the country, and they are in deadly earnest. Meu like Boutwell who have been life long republic uis, have gone over to Bryan, and the press which four years called them patriots is now calling them trait ors. Traitors to what? Traitors to monarchy; traitors to imperial ism! traitors to rotten nessl Per haps this, but not traitors to dem ocracy and the highest ideals ot re publicanism. They support Bryan because he believes in the con stitution. MISTAKE THE TEMPER. Mr. Hanna, the campaign manag er for those who have gained for a second time, the control of the re publican party, much , mistakes the temper of the American people when he jells them he has a stand in with the Almighty. Through hiB journals, which lor servility and obedience put to shame pure journalism, he tells the people that God and Destiny have it ail settled and that this man and his tool, McKinley and Roosevelt, are elected without a doubt. He sets at naught the temper of a people who have always stood for a gov ernment by the people; he sets at naught the fact that the bankn are running the country; ho sets at naught the fact that the trusts are Betting both the price of agricult ural product and the manufactured article; be sets at naught the senti ment of the masses against building and keeping, at public expense, a great standing array; he sets at naught the great public , seatiment against our tying up with a great power which never makes a mutu al benefit alliance but which means first for Britain and second or nowhere for the other party to the scheme. Mr. Hanna very much mistakes the temper of the Ameri can people. He will hold many hut that great safety valve for dem ocratic and republican institutions, the thinking voters, he will not get. And for this reason we shall Bee W. J. Bryan elected. DO YOU KKMKMBKlt? Doynn rememhrbtit a short time since, according to Hanna journal logic ' lhat Senator Hoar was a blight to his country?
