Phillip Lang, a county charge, died at the county farm, 10:30, Sunday night, aged about 80 year Mr. ltradley ea,Vft that. McBride came out Saturday and held an adjourn ed session of circuit court. Two criminal case were disposed of in abort order. Frank M. Gardner, who was charged with polygamy, having Brat married, in 1885, Alice Church, at Salem, and then with out divorce having wedded Mr Foord, of llillaboro, pleaded guilty to the charge and was eentenced to one year in the penitentiary. Deputy Sheriff Deichman conveyed him to the State prison Saturday evening. Julius Miller, or "Cully," the us ual sobriquet, asked that his indict ment of grand larceny be reduced to pelty larceny. Upon his requeat beineeranled.be immediately pleaded guilty. The indictment charged theft of bacon, shoulders nd lard from the warehouse of P. M. Jsckaon, in 1895. As Annans the principal witness was dead, the Judge thought that a reduction of the charge and a fine would be better than a long drawn trial "Cully" was fined f-50 and paid the fine. 8. B. Paterson, a first class prac tical printer, and for several yeara with the limes and Hatchet, died at Forest Grove, luesoay, troru a alroke of paralysis. Patterson was 48 years of age, and was born at V est Liberty, Iowa. Jn lsii he married Lillie L. Prather, a sister to Mrs. Chaa. Bowen, who wi.b a married daughter survives hira. He came to Forest Grove 10 years ago, and recently became interested in a patent mail pouch, which be was placing on the market when taken ill. Patterson was a good, kind hearted gentleman, and had many friends. The remains were interred in the Nsylor cemetery yesterday. A surprise party was la9t Friday evening tendered Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Crocker, who reside near Newton, by the members of the Endeevor of the Christian chrjreh.
