Masters of this city.-s He is a grad uate of Stanford university in the 1911 class, and is employed by the Montebello Oil company near Los Angeles. The gath ering disembarked and held numer ous and varied races' on the Island, By general consent. Miss Edna Pricket was judged to be the most popular girl present and was award ed a gold watch. Special features were a pie-eating contest and a sack race. W. R, Grant was chair man of the committee in charge. The Court Pacific Independent Order of Foresters, held its annual outing Sunday on , the Bluebird. About 500 enjoyed the trip. Th Boat left Portland at 10 o'clock and the- merry-makers spent several hours on Sauvie's island, where bath ing, picnicking and athletic events were participated in. It returned to Portland at 7 P. M. The affair was big success. The committee in charge consisted of Earl Dawson, O. E. Kraft and George L. Masten. The Jeremiah Jack reunion held their annual meeting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Jack in Ore gon City last week. A basket din ner was served at noon to about 40 guests on the lawn. During the Business meeting. which followed the dinner, the dis charge of Jeremiah Jack from the war of 1812 was read. As the gov ernment provides markers for the graves of all men buried in Oregon who fought in this war, plans were formulated to place one -of those markers on the grave of Jeremiah Jack some time in the near future. a a a A . congenial party, members of Sumner post and corps, Grand Army of the Republic, met at Peninsula Park recently and enjoyed a picnic- outing in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Josephus Davenport, who will leave shortly for a six weeks" visit In the east.
