ment of Mtss Miriam Reed, daughter

to James Forrest Cobb Jr. was of

Thursday afternoon at a tea given by
Miss Gretchen Smith, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Jay Smith. The bride-elect
attended Portland academy, Lincoln

returned from California.

went to California for a visit some
time ago. Mr. Adams, returned re
cently, but Mrs. Adams is remaining
for a longer visit.

Senator and Mrs. Stanfleld recently
moved from Stoneleigh court to 2400
Sixteenth street. The . senatorial
wosin residing there will give a May
day breakfast on May 1 in compli
ment to Mrs. Calvin Coolidge, wife of
the vice-president and president of
the senate. Mi's. Cbolldge is also the
head of the "Senate ladles," a sort of
club formed of the wives of senators
or eX-senatos, which was formed
during the war . for war work and
which continues on as a social club.
The women meet every Tuesday
morning and sew for the poor and
needv and have a picnic luncheon
together at the senate office building.
The guests et the breakfast will In
clude all of the ladies of the senate.

Mr. and Mrs. Philip L. Jackson are
visiting friends in New Jersey. They
will leave soon for Virginia, where
they will spend a short time, probably
arriving in Portland about May 16.
