Tha week waa a busy ona for tha young girls who are going away to school. There waa the laat moment sewing and shopping to be completed and a dosen or mora rush parties to attend. There were teas and luncheons and dancea for the lovely young girla of the aub-deb set and for those who are entering college and who are leaving for finishing schools. Sev eral theater and Orpheum parties were included In the list of gaieties for the younger set. Max Frled enthal. ' Cards have been issued for the roar, llage of Miss Mildred Nicol and A. Douglas Myers. Tha ceremony will take place Saturday. September 24, at 8 o'clock in the First Presbyterian church. The bride-elect is the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. James Nicol of Friends of Mrs. Fred Thomas Berry (Charlotte Laidlaw) will be Interested to know that Commander and Mra. Berry sailed yesterday from San Diego to go by way of Panama canal to Annapolis, where Commander Berry has been ordered. Lieutenant and Mra A D. Strubl (Hasel Ralston) also are enroute to Annapolis on tha Great Northern. Many of tha attractive young Port land girls will attend eastern schools this semester. Miss Ellse Flelschner left last Monday for Wellesley col lege. Tha same day Miss Marcla Knight and Miss Katharine Alnsworth went east to school. Mrs. Dow's school at Briarcliff Manor, in tha Westchester hills of New York, will open the first week in October. Portland will be repre sented in this years enrollment by Miss Susanna Caswell. The marriage of Miss Cornelia Tevls and Alfred Jerome Sullivan was an event of Wednesday. Tha ceremony took place at the S. C. Tevls residence In Irvlngton, with Father William Cronln officiating. There was a fam ily dinner after tha ceremony and the young couple left later for'Victoria and Vancouver, B. C. On their re turn they will be at home at the Bow. man apartments on Portland Heights. For the wedding the bride wore a dark blue trlcotlne suit and a fall hat and carried orchids. Her sister, Lee Tevls, wore a pale green dinner gown. Frank Sullivan attended his brother. Among those who attended ware Mr. and Mra. Horace Tevls and their little son from Winlock, Wash. The Misses Falling entertained on Saturday night at a dinner party for tbeir nephew, Henry F. Cabell. Cov ers were laid for 20 young guests. The week opened with a smart hrldge tea at which Mra. George Mc- Pherson entertained for Mlsa Fannie Rosseel, who waa the guest of Mrs. E. L.
