The engagement of Mrs. Anne Johns Eton and Rev. John Robertson, both of this city, was announced We'dnes day evening at a party given by Miss Jeanette Sigman and Mrs. George D, Brodie at the home of Mrs. G. E. Mc- Clintock. The veranda and living room were decorated with flowers and Japanese lanterns. The dining room was at tractive with a profusion of pink sweet peas and maidenhair fern. Old friendships were renewed end new acquaintances made at a picnic dinner held in Laurel hurst park Sat urday, August 13, by a number of FortLind residents who at one time made their homes in Bocceman, Mont. The afternoon and evening were passed, in recalling old times and en joying a bountiful repast at 6 o'clock. It was the -unanimous desire of all present to hold similar gatherings from time to time and to make fur ther efforts to locate persons who formerly lived in Bozeman and who would be desirous of participating in these sociial events. Johnson and daughters, the Misses Ruth and Margaret, re turned to Portland the first of the week, after a vacation spent at Sea view, Wash. Miss Agnes Beach, who for the past five months has been traveling in the south and west, Is at present In Yellowstone National park and is expected in Portland by the end of August. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. McDonald of 742 Everett street motored home to Portland Wednesday after a two weeks' visit in Spokane. Mrs. Mc Donald's sister. Miss Ivaloo Eddy, principal of the Eddy school of elo cution and dramatic art In Spokane, motored back with them for a ten days' visit. A number of affairs are being planed for Miss Eddy. No. 2, Neigh bors of Woodcraft, held its annual picnic in Sellwood park, Saturday, Au gust 13. They were accompanied by their parents and little friends and hid a happy afternoon playing games.
