Failure of Ohrt Brothers Venture In San Francisco Is Recalled. , It would eem that another attempt would be made to revive bicycle rac ing on the Pacific coast. The latest Information In this connection - IS td the effect that a series pt cmpeti tive races .will be held In the new au tomobile speedway' at Fresno. - The first of these U slated for Thanks giving, day. j An attempt was made a couple of years ago to revive racing In Cali fornia by the building of a track In San Francisco. The two Ohrt broth er's were interested in the scheme and considerable money was sunk in the venture. It proved- a failure and the big saucer track was soon neg lected, and later torn down for lack of patronage. One man whom we heard discussing the matter and wno was sceptical about the success cf reviving the sport had this to say: "As a spectacle to catch the public eye, the bicycle is a thing of the past. It was all right as long as it was the fastest thing known to us. Being the fastest thing we knew of It had Its thrills. Now that the motorcycle and the automo bile have come into vogue with their thrills which so far transcend those of bicycl'e-racing, the latter has be come tame in comparison. We are thrilled nowadays by transcontinen tal aerial flights where the competi tors make a couple of hundreds of miles an hour.
