The boarders are members of the college staff, officers who have been sta tloned here, and students. So far as is known by the staff here, .this Is the first college to run such an institu tion as part of its training- for domes tic science, students. The boarding ' house charges suffi cient to pay for the food and for the maintenance of the house, no gain be ing sought. Hearty meals are served. but as much waste as possible is elim nated. At the finish of each meal the ?irls estimate the amount ef refuse from the meal such as plate scraps, burned or otherwise, spoiled food and also the amount of usable waste. The purpose of the house Is to teach the students te cook on the family basis and to always prepare food which is eatable. The co-eds, who wear trim, white uniforms, direct the use of the electric dishwasher and supervise the cleaning of the rooms of the house, which are kept spotless. Table linen Is kept im maculate by the students. A large number of the boarders are men who spend much time in drill or on the athletic field, so that meals prepared must not only live up to sci entific and theoretical requirements. but must meet the demands of the husky appotite., A feature of the menus is the extensive usage of milk, raw and cooked. This Is considered necessary to the balanced menu. The project was started last October at the opening of the college term and will be retained as a regular part of the course for senior women majoring in institutional management and do mestic science.
