The above are all that are left of the 26 who sisned the charter. The women of Stella, Wash., were entertained on Wednesday afternoon in honor of St. Patrick's day by Mri H. A. Rue. The afternoon was passed sawing-, after which a delightful sur prise was given them. Mrs. Rue led the way to the third floor, where the spacious attlo was transformed into a bower of screen. Here a delicious col lation was served, the appointments and decorations being in keeping with the day. Those present were: Mri O. M. Anderson, Mrs. Joeeph Mowery, Mrs. H. Brinson. Mrs. Frederick Rasmussen. Mrs. Eugene Brock. Mrs. A. Howard, Mrs. Horace Caswell. Mrs. Lewis Olsen. Mrs. Thomas Brink and Miss Flora Hendrickson. The out-of-town guests were: Mrs. C. F. Moore enter tained Friday night with a charming announcement party, when the news of the engagement of their daughter. Miss Marguerite Eleanor Moore, to Chester Wi.ber Bourne was made. As the guests entered the house Miss Genevieve Filler presented the women with a cor sage bouquet and boutonnlers to the men to which were tied cards announc ing the betrothal. Miss Moore is a charming girl, and is well known In . the musical set- She has a sweet so prano voice of wonderful range, and Is In demand at social functions. Mr. Bourne is a prominent Rosarian and is popular in Portland. He Is connected with the Rock Island system. The wed ding will take place early in June. At the party an orchestra played dur ing the evening, the guests Indulging in dancing, interspersed by solos by the bride-elect. Lord Fauntleroya and schoolgirls. sunbonneted and carrying a jumping rope; also the old-fashioned and much loved mother with frilled basque and hooped skirt, who added dignity to the occasion. The refreshments also were carried out according to childhood's palates, and the party long will be re membered by the happy gathering. ... The Massachusetts Society of Ore gon held a social and entertainment on Thursday evening last in tne Rosarian rooms. Commercial Club. Tel egrams were received from Governor Walsh, of Massachusets, also from Mayor Curley, of Boston, sending greetings. A letter of regret from Blanche Ring, of the Orpheum circuit. was received, Miss King Is a Bos ton ian and expected to be present. Judge H. If. Northup gave an address upon "Evacuation Day" (March 17, 1776). Miss Kathleen Booth sang. Through the kindness of Sherman, Clay & Co. there was a Victrola con cert during the rest of the evening, while 600 was in progress. Refresh ments were served also. Mr. and Mrs. William H. Downing entertained a few friends Saturday night. Five hundred was played and card honors fell to J. . Harvey and Zaidee Reichwein. Consolation prizes went to A. 7. Middlebrooks and Mrs. Emma Mashburn. A collation was served and music selections closed a delightful evening. Mrs. Washburn gave several piano numbers and vocal selections were contributed by Mrs J. In compliment to Miss Esther Clemens, whose marriage to Walter Pfaender will be an event of the latter part of -the month. The Women's Aid of the Highland Congregational Church entertained their friends with a 6t- Patrick's tea at the home of Mrs. O. 8. Cutler. 100 Garfield avenue. The entertainment included readings and music by Mra Ralph Miller. A guessing contest also was held, the prize being won by Mrs. J. E. Jensen, after which refreshments were served. Tbe committee in charge of this charming affair consisted of Mrs. Fred B. Wright, chairman; Mesdames A. L. Young, E. S. Bollinger, Van De marr, Wegton and Sullivan. ' ...
