Extra Large Suits for Women Riding Suits and Skirts Apparel for Mourning Gymnasium Suits for Women and Misses , postscript A modern Plata has given voice to the opinion that tha ) most eternally 1 feminine feature of femininity is not its curiosity, but its love of noveltv. Curiosity, to say the least, is a. quality of ill repute, but the search for novelty betokens an alertness and an interest in the world at large which is bound to make for improvement. So it be hooves us, as feminine beings, to bow our grateful acknowledgment , to tha Plato in question for his contribution to our moral status. Novelty in every direction forces it self upon one's attention in the Lipman Wolfe store these days. On every sida one's eyes are greeted with a blaze of color in which the new and bizarre are mingled with the older favorites which fashion cannot cast aside. At the ribbon counter, for instance, they are showing the new fuchsia tints (which verge nearer to cerise than to any other color whose ac quaintance 1 have made), and yet they are not cerise, but something newer a late cry. The new hats have it, too. It is a long time since I have seen a millinery display so full of novelty as the col lection of French and American hats at this shop. There is a new turn here, and new twist there, and a bit of trimming, new and rare in itself, so unexpectedly placed that you are filled with delight and wonder how the thing was accom plished with such apparent ease and grace. . One little walking hat, which, by tha way, was of English origin, was nota ble for its very regularity of outline. It was o deep, violet felt with a satin facing'"on '"the closely fitting brim. Two beautiful wings, purple in color, yet gleaming like those of a blackbird, were; fastened one at each side. Mercury wise. 1 London chic is here a-plenty in the tailored street hats. In the Art Nee dlework Depart ment, also on tha second floor, I found a perfectly inspiring amount of novelty. A collection of quaint tapestry and chintz things were novel in spite o f their quaintness. " i : Little trays and boxes to adorn one's dressing table were covered with lovely flowered tapestry and finished with dull gold braid. Some charming old prints, faintly colored, were cov ered with glass and framed, as it were, with an upstanding chintz-covered rim, to form a tray for milady's dresser. Whole sets of chintz, covered things in pink and white or blue and white com-' binations suggested dream-like rooms in. pink or blue. A most delightfully novel idea is the "old ivory," which is used as a foun dation for the litde basket pin cushions and jewel cases which are so beautiful as to be absolutely necessary to our. happiness. This material is nothing less than heavy, silver plate, thickly coated with a warm, ivory white and with its raised garlands of roses and violets faintly tinted in pinks and blues, after the most approved French fashion. One of these lovely little baskets or boxes with its puffy satin, cushion' or lining to match madam's favorite color scheme, is quite the daint iest addition that could be made to her. possessions. , ;.v ror the trav eler, whether by train or motor, or any other convey ance in which one :ncounters dust and grime, noth ing could be more , convenient than the collapsible rubber wash . basin with its soap case, brush, comb, mirror and towel; all fitting neatly to gether and compassed about by a nar row leather case. Nothing, indeed, unless it were the collapsible pillow also neatly fitted to a leather case, which puffs up roundly when you blow into it, whereat you quickly screw on the cover and voila, you sleep, per chance to dream. . This paragon of comfort, and many; others to be found at the leather goods counter near the center aisle. !-.
