,THE SUNDAY OREGOXIAX, PORTLAM), , SEPTEMBER 1, 1912. SEASIDE PLANS MANY IMPROVEMENTS FOR NEXT SUMMER Despite Many Drawbacks, Present Season Has Bsen Enjoyable Social Activity Unabated Salmon Trout Plentiful and Ply Fishermen in Their Element. 8 SEASIDE, Or, Aug. 81. (Special.) The citixens of Seaside expect to do extensive work In the way of Improvements before next Summer. This year has definitely shown the Sea side that Portlanders, especially, and also the Easterners, like the little old town and cling- to It through all its misfortunes. After the election next Fall, when it will be really legal to col lect the taxes and spend them in im proving the city. Mayor Gilbert says there will really be something doing. Bridge street will be widened, the streets will be laid out in a more business-like way, and it will be easier to locate a cottage or business house. Many buildings of cement are expected to take the place of some of the old hacks here now; in fact two are al ready begun and the one, nearly com pleted, is a big contrast to the nearby buildings. Some new Summer homes are already contracted for and moro building is looked forward to than ever before. It will be able to throw six streams of water within one minute after the alarm has sounded.
