Returning from a four days trip to Tillamook and the Kehalem Valley Fri day afternoon, C. C. Chapman, of the promotion bureau of the Portland Com mercial Club, found a stack of letters on his desk and telegrams from Spo kane, congratulating him on a speech he had delivered before the Spokane Ad Club at Its luncheon Tuesday, when he had been holding a development meeting somewhere near Bayocean. The letters of congratulation sug gested a dark mystery to those who knew of Mr". Chapman's whereabouts on Tuesday, until he explained that he had "canned" his speech about the Portland Commercial Club's publicity methods on a phonograph record, which he shipped to Spokane to fill the date with the Ad Club, to which he was unable to give his personal attention.
